How to Register

Complete all steps through the Tempe Union High School District's official athletics portal at Aktivate.com. Follow each step in order.

Step 02
Create an Account

Click "Create an Account" and fill in the required information. The system will automatically log you in and prompt you to accept the terms of use.

Step 03
Add Your Athlete

Click "My Athletes" → "Add Athlete". This only needs to be done once — athlete information carries forward every year, including contact and medical details.

Step 04
Review the Profile

After creating your athlete, you'll see their profile page — a summary of all their information and current involvement. Verify everything is accurate.

Step 05
Register for a Sport

Click "Register for a Sport" and select all sports your child may participate in during the school year. Select Football from the list.

Step 06
Your Registration Checklist

This page shows the real-time status of each requirement. You will need to complete several steps, including agreeing to documents and completing the physical.

Step 07
Physicals

Download and print the physical and pre-physical forms. Complete them with your doctor and upload all four documents together as a single file. Do not upload individually — they will be rejected.

Step 08
Complete Registration

Your registration is complete once all checklist items are uploaded and verified by the Athletics/Activities Office. Log in at any time to check status.

Step 09
Impact Testing

Football players are required to complete baseline Impact testing with the campus trainer. Check with your coach or the athletics office for testing dates and times.

AIA Rules of
Eligibility

All Tempe High student-athletes must adhere to the Arizona Interscholastic Association eligibility rules during the years they represent the school in interscholastic activities. These rules are non-negotiable.

Full AIA Eligibility Rules

Athletic Card Required: Any student wishing to participate must take home an Athletic Card, signed by a parent or guardian and witnessed by a School Administrator or Notary Public.

Physical Examination On File: No student may be issued equipment, engage in practice, or compete until a physical examination form is on file with the Activities Office — confirming they are fully able to compete.

Academic Requirements: Athletes must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit classes for semesters 1–6, and a minimum of 4 credit classes for semesters 7 and 8.

Pass All Classes: An athlete must pass all classes in the preceding 9-week period to remain eligible for interscholastic activities.

Enrollment Deadline: Athletes must be enrolled no later than the 14th official school day of the semester to be eligible for that semester.

Season Limits: Athletes enrolled in a 4-year high school may compete in no more than 4 seasons per sport, across no more than 8 consecutive semesters after first enrolling.

Age Restriction: An athlete is ineligible if they become 19 years of age on or before September 1. A certified copy of the birth certificate is required.

Attendance Zone: An athlete is only eligible at the school in the attendance area where their parent or legal guardian is domiciled.

Transfer Rules: An athlete who transfers without an accompanying change of attendance zone may be ineligible for 12 months in sports they previously competed in. See the Athletic Director for exceptions.

Outside Teams Prohibited: During the interscholastic season, an athlete on a school team shall not practice or compete for any other group, club, or organization in that same sport.

No Monetary Compensation: Athletes shall not compete for money or any other monetary compensation at any time.

Compete Under Own Name: Amateur athletes must always participate under their own legal name.

What You'll Need

Required First
Physical Examination

A physician-completed physical examination form must be on file before the athlete can practice or compete. Download the physical and pre-physical forms through Aktivate and upload all four documents together as a single file.

Uploading individually will result in rejection.

Upload Together
Impact Testing

Baseline Impact (concussion) testing is conducted by the campus trainer and is required for football players. Testing is scheduled before the season begins — check with your coach or the athletics office for specific dates and times.

Signed Athletic Card

The Athletic Card must be signed by a parent or guardian and witnessed by a School Administrator or Notary Public. This gives official permission for your student to participate.

Complete 1 Week Early
